An Enpass alternative with no vault to place

Enpass appeals to people who dislike vendor-hosted vaults. MoolKey answers the same discomfort in a different way: not a vault you control, but no vault of generated credentials.

The difference is where your password comes from

MoolKey recreates a credential on your device from inputs you remember and account settings it can recognize. Enpass uses a different model. That model may offer more convenience, and it also changes what exists to sync, fill, recover, or protect.

Saves passwords

Enpass

Enpass stores an encrypted vault locally and syncs it through your own Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, or WebDAV account, so the company never hosts your data.

What changes if you move from Enpass

These are the differences MoolKey is designed around. They are useful only if they match the reason you are considering a switch.

No vault to place anywhere
There is no file to store in your own cloud, and no sync account to configure.
It creates numeric PINs
Use PIN mode for a bank card, phone, voicemail, or another account that asks for digits.
Works without internet
Create a password or PIN with no connection at all.
Free for everyday use
No one-time licence and no subscription for creating passwords and PINs.

MoolKey vs Enpass, at a glance

Read each row as a trade, not a score. A stored vault enables features MoolKey intentionally does not provide.

What Enpass does better for some people

MoolKey removes the stored password list. It does not remove the reasons people value a vault. These are the trade-offs to weigh before you change anything.

Enpass lets you restore from backup
Because the vault is a file you hold, a backup can bring everything back. MoolKey has nothing to restore.
Enpass fills sign-in forms
Autofill across browsers and mobile is included. MoolKey asks you to copy and paste.
Enpass stores more item types
Notes, cards, identities, and attachments all fit in an Enpass vault.

How to switch from Enpass without importing a vault

MoolKey is designed for a gradual move. Start with one account, prove the new habit works, and leave the rest alone until you naturally return to them.

  1. 01

    Start with one account

Pick one account you can test without disrupting your day. Create a new MoolKey password, then change the password inside that account instead of trying to move your whole Enpass setup at once.

  2. 02

    Confirm the new sign-in

Sign out and use the new password again. If you use more than one device, confirm the same MoolKey inputs recreate the same result before you remove anything from your current manager.

  3. 03

    Remove the old copy last

Delete the saved Enpass copy only after the new sign-in works. Repeat the process when you naturally visit the next account. MoolKey does not import a vault because it does not keep one.
